The idea of STJ suddenly going “homegrown” is… certainly ambitious. Especially considering their, shall we say, limited success with younger teams, the absence of a Fields pipeline, and a developmental history that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence on the boys’ side. For example SYC is quietly sitting higher in four of the six age groups (with their B teams) and working with a noticeably stronger player pool seems far more realistically positioned for something like a second homegrown (MLS1) platform. Not that SYC is necessarily asking for one, of course. So perhaps it might be a good time for STJ to take a small step back and reconsider whether this particular vision is truly the hill worth climbing and something that make sense with facts.. STJ needs to earn their stripes in MLS2 for atleast 2-3 years winning 4-5 age groups to be considered homegrown division. I have nothing to do with STJ but you equate winning with development? SYC has had the numbers for years and wins but has only produced 1 MLS player I believe. If TSJ has a blueprint for developing players, other than the pathetic parental view of choosing a club based on the rankings app, why wouldn’t they get a shot at homegrown if they proved they have a plan and the resources? Development could be taking an EDP-level player and bringing them up to a Homegrown level player. Winning has nothing to do with development so your argument is immature at best.
