No, PP is correct and you really need to think about this. You are essentially confusing theory with practice. In theory, wouldn't it be nice if "illegals" could just go away? In practice, hardly anyone is entirely undocumented, and immigration laws is very complex and needs to be followed if you're a law and order person - which you are, right? Most foreigners are legally here, first of all: I am one of them. The rest have some legal documentation, but overstayed at some point, or need to show up to court hearings to stay in status, or something... so they can often LEGALLY stay, but temporarily and with conditions. If they meet those conditions, they are not illegal, and yet these are the people being targeted for deportation. Immigration law is pretty clear, but ICE is not following the law. The problem is that there aren't enough immigration lawyers to go around, and they cannot get to each detainee in time to argue the law before some of them get deported. And often, ICE is not letting detainees contact lawyers, which is a blatent violation of the law.

Any solution that's just "DEPORT THEM ALL" is bound to come with a ton of rights violations. And I hope you're not OK with that, PP, because if you are, it makes you an inhumane, horrible person. YOU want the law the apply to ALL, otherwise the day someone comes for you, for any reason, you might not get the protection of the law. If you're a white person, this might come as a surprise to you.

Right now detention centers are like concentration camps: people are lying on the floor, without adequate toilets or bathing facilities, and more have died in detention in 2025 than during all of the previous administration's term. Medical needs are not seen to. When you factor in that ALL of the detainees (the immense majority of whom are innocent, documented, and not violent or criminal) have the right under the law to basic humane treatment... what does that make a person who keeps frothing at the mouth and yelling "they asked for it, they got it"? Most of the ICE detainees are decent, hard-working people who for the most part have no legal reason to be detained. Any problems with their documentation or status should be addressed through the courts. We need way more immigration budget than we used to have, but Trump got it wrong: he should have increased the immigration court budget, not the detention and deportation arm! Immigration court is where the backlog resides. That's the bottleneck. But this administration is Nazi-like, in that they want a cruel and inhumane spectacle of throwing out foreigners, instead of actually treating them by the book.

The devil is in the details, PP. Facile solutions are always wrong. If you're tempted by facile solutions touted by charismatic individuals, be very afraid. You're being led down the rabbit hole.

And this is how you get people who support extraordinarily cruel practices. Please reconsider. You can change your mind at any time.
