I think when 14 year olds in the suburbs want something, it's usually the sign that it's on it's way out for the more fashionable adult set. That's what happened with skinny jeans, insanely short dresses, uggs, Kendra Scott jewelry, various brans of water bottles (first Thermoflask, then Yeti, now Owalla), etc. FWIW, even my 14 year old thinks those "Mormon curls" are beyond over.
