Honestly, I get why people say that about Jefferson County, but I think it really depends on what you’re comparing. Some areas in WV feel pretty similar, but the school options can vary a bit. I’ve been trying to understand the differences myself, especially when looking into good schools for my kid. I came across a list of the best elementary schools in West Virginia that helped me get a clearer picture: https://moonpreneur.com/school/e/wv/. But I’d still love to hear from people who actually live in Jefferson—does it really feel that different from the rest of WV?”
We have a second home in Jeff County and spend a lot of time there. It’s different from the rest of the state in that it’s wealthier and more moderate politically but it’s also a whole different world than the DMV. The difference is striking considering how close it is.
