And again: it’s here. Scream into the wind all you want, saying you don’t like it and that students are dumber for using it. That’s not going to stop them, nor is it going to stop universities and workplaces from using it.

I may be “just” a teacher in your eyes, and therefore I must lack the intelligence to know how to use something effectively. Still, I want my own children to know how to use it effectively and ethically. We used it at home the other night to create practice tests for my kid’s chemistry class. We used material from her study guide to create the test, and then she sat at the table and practiced. That’s effective and ethical use. She knows that. She also knows not to use it for an English essay. See? It can be taught, even by an unintelligent person like me. [/quote]
