For one, a democracy is ruled by the majority, and we know that is not is what is happening in American politics. If that was true, Rhode Island and Wyoming residents would not have the same amount of sway in the Senate as California and Texas. A republic system is sought of abstract and rules through elected officials but not necessarily governed by the majority of the populace. [/quote]
