Ehh, women in DC aren't really obsessed with wealth and social status. I'm from NYC and spent 6 years living in Miami but I would say DC is comparatively low key that way. Strivers for sure, but DC isn't really a destination for a woman with a HS education looking to hit it rich with a guy the way other cities are. More likely to be a big law associate or lobbyist who is looking for a comparable male equal.[/quote]

So when a woman in big law or a lobbyist seeks a man with those credentials and money, she is not obsessed with status because she is looking for her "comparable equal". When a woman with a HS education does it, she is obsessed.

Are engineers and accountants making 150K equals to this woman in big law? Or is there a salary and specific grad degree that defines these "comparable equal" men?

Professional women not wanting to financially support lousy husbands has nothing in common with it. They just stay single till they find it or forever. They don’t fly to Miami to bare their tits to find a man.

150K is plenty of income. Anyone focusing solely on men making more than that is obsessed with income and status. One can make good money and still be obsessed with money. And engineers and accountants are just as intelligent as lawyers. So if "comparable" was the goal for these older women, there would be plenty of options in these professions. It's an obsession with money and status. It does not matter if younger women or older women are doing it. Women in general, rich or poor, prefer men with power, money and status.  Neither their education level or wealth reduces that preference or "obsession" as you put it.

150k is not enough burrowing capacity or savings to afford a good house in DC; no international vacations; no good cars; no sports like golf or gym memberships . Men making $150k have a very different lifestyle from mine and I don’t want to finance them while in a relationship. They can find a woman making $150k or less. 85k 20 years ago is a lot of money that would have been 2005 and houses would have been in the 250 375 range here so you were obviously not prioritizing correctly or handling your money well. [/quote]
