Wow I’m sure all 20,000 people who watched are really sad.
More like 20,000,000. I switched back and forth between Colbert and Kimmel every night.
No way you are younger than 65. This is classic 1995 TV habit.
My college kids/young adults and middle age spouse spend hours in the evenings watching funny stuff and comedy sketches on youtube. None of them watch the evening late night shows or really network anything, except for sports. Otherwise, it is youtube and netflix. Most of the adults in my age bracket don't watch those shows any more. They are too snide and overtly political. People, even most moderate liberals, want to laugh and escape, not watch one more negative political show. The 20 somethings and teens don't even know who these guys are (Colbert, etc) They just see them as boring lectury old guys that are irrelevant. They do watch Conan though on whatever online streaming he has. They think he is really funny and witty. He doesn't do politics though. I think he is still just silly witty humor. Those late night network shows, including SNL, are stuck in some weird hybrid of 1996 TV culture combined with the crazy hyper political partisan preachy culture of the past 5-8 years. They are not fun to watch and have lived out their time.
