Look at old Calvin and Hobbes comics - it was a running joke that Calvin's dad dragged the family camping every year and everyone but him hated it. When I was a kid camping as a family vacation was absolutely not something you'd brag about, whereas nowadays it seems like every single family is not only going camping, they're posting a flurry of "OMG look how hip and outdoorsy we are!" social media posts.
