I’m a naturalized citizen, not too worried about it. If they throw me out I’ll deal with it.
This. I am a naturalized white European woman. Never meant to permanently move to the US but got “stuck” here due to my American husband. I have a kid who chose university in Europe. Youngest kid has two yrs of HS left and is leaving in a month for a boarding school overseas. Trump’s victory was not a surprise for us, especially after the night of the debate with Biden so we started getting organized. My DH has six more months to reach his full pension (he is a Fed). I refuse to carry anything with me other than my real ID driver’s license (plus knowing myself it would be likely that i actually lose the US passport if i carry it around- i also lost my certificate of naturalization, i know it is somewhere safe in the house but i have no idea where and looked everywhere) If they kick me out, i will finally go home and my DH will move to europe with me (does not want to move back to his midwest town due to conservative family turned MAGA). I know I am privileged because I will never risk ending up in a prison in Salvador but I refuse to be afraid and to change my behavior and habits because of Trump or ICE. F-them
