I started reading through the thread and stopped because of all the back and forth.

We had a similar issue, OP. I found a marijuana vape pen in my college kid's stuff. We told him not in the house, but it's so hard to detect smell-wise that I'm not sure if he's respecting that rule, although I hope he is. Honestly, I'd rather him roll a joint than smoke the manufactured crap they're getting at vape shops these days. That stuff worries me and I send my kid articles about the dangers of these products (and fentanyl). Any recreational marijuana use is not impacting my son's ability to function and meet his responsibilities so it's not something I would kick him out over. I'd rather have an eye on how he is doing so I could more easily intervene if there were problems. My parents were super strict about everything and all it did at that time was teach me to be a very good liar.

I'm sure this sounds crazy to hardliners, but there are more high functioning recreational pot users than people in this thread seem to realize. I know scads of smart, successful people - doctors, lawyers, etc. - in NoVa who use marijuana based products from time to time (but I don't know anyone who is open about any other drug use).[/quote]
