I don’t think most Americans are MAGA. But I definitely think most Americans don’t want what the Democrats are selling. They need to move way, way more center and drop the “progressive” agenda to win again.
I agree that the Democrats should move more center but, building on your point, Americans don't want want the GOP/MAGA is selling either. They need to move more center as well. The Democrats will win in 2026 and 2028 as the political pendulum naturally swings.
The center doesn’t necessarily mean status quo, incremental change at the margins though. It actually might mean bold proposals that make life better for people in the center of the bell curve.
But the democrat way to “make life better” is to increase things the government provides. Free this, free that, etc. I think most people don’t want to see a bunch of social programs ran by the government (at the expense of those that pay taxes).
The function of government is to provide services and programs that individuals can’t provide on their own. I’m happy to pay taxes so we can have national parks and accurate weather forecasting. The majority of Americans like Social Security and Medicare. Do you want the full burden of caring for your elderly parents for 20+ years?
THIS. Imagine what you can have with those government run programs. My federal healthcare is amazing. You could have that. Countries with the most happiness have government safety nets to include healthcare, parental leave, etc. Yes their taxes are high, but they get SO MUCH for it.
It won’t work here plus most people in US don’t want a socialist country. The majority would rather work hard, keep more of their earned income, and be rewarded with high income for hard work and innovation. We already have safety nets in place for the people that need them. We don’t need even more. Public schools have already been turned into a social services dumpster fire.
