And no, cannabis doesn’t make you stupid. The disruptions to memory are to short term memory and retreat with abstinence - no permanent damage occurs.
So, just be clear - the BRAIN DAMAGE - caused by recreational THC use, is “only temporary”. Got it.
You're so funny. ALL drugs alter brain chemistry, including Big Pharma drugs and ESPECIALLY alcohol, which shrinks the brain over time and absolutely causes permanent, devastating brain damage in heavy users. The short term memory formation issues related to cannabis are ONLY seen in heavy users, and retreat entirely with abstinence. People who take a gummy daily to sleep or for anxiety alleviation don't have brain issues from that. People who smoke a joint or three at the weekend don't have brain damage. Some of the highest intelligence people I have known during the acquiring of four university degrees, two of them advanced and one a professional degree, were casual users of cannabis. Cannabis is FAR better for brain and body than alcohol, and most of you who are REEFER MADNESS on this board think nothing of swilling that poison on the regular - a poison that is linked to literally 200 diseases and approximately 3 million deaths yearly worldwide. You cannot OD on cannabis. You cannot die from cannabis use. You can very easily die from alcohol use, in multiple ways including alcohol poisoning itself - something that takes far too many young lives every year in this country. But yeah, Puritans, keep modeling anti-cannabis alcohol swilling to your kiddos. Hope they make it through college unscathed.
Dear arrogantly ignorant stoner- Your information is outdated. You very much CAN die from CHS and other cannabis-related issues, and people have. Playing "it's safer than alcohol" is for chumps. High-THC cannabis can cause psychosis and severe withdrawal symptoms. For all your ranting about Pfizer and "big pharma" you don't seem to be up to date on the research about what happens when you blow out your neurotransmitters on a regular basis (and yes, weekly is plenty often enough for that to happen). Your anecdote about the smartest people you know doing stupid things doesn't make those things less stupid. It makes those people less smart. As for the "it's reversible", lemme tell you this from experience: I've been clean from all cannabis products for about 2 years now. It took about a year and a half before my sleep and moods re-regulated. The first 6 months were agonizing, and I was actively suicidal (makes sense; my brain had gotten used to having artifical levels of cannabinoids boosting and depleting my neurtotransmitters, I had no dopamine, nothing was pleasurable, the anhedonia was overwhelming...) So yeah, sure, "it's reversible". But what it takes to go through the process of reversing it isn't going to be easy for the sort of person who takes it even "just occassionally" "to relax" or "to take the edge off". If you have trouble dealing with reality before drugs, reality during detox from drugs is going to kick your ass. It's not "puritanical" to point this out. And, despite my experience, I'm not even anti-cannabis, even now. But I'm definitely anti-asshat-on-the-internet ranting about weed like it's "just a plant" and not encouraging people to thoroughly research and know their drugs. You think you're advocating for cannabis, but you're making a lot of arguments for why it's dangerous.
