Hate to break it to you but a democratic republic is a form of democracy. It combines aspects of both democracy and republicanism:

Democratic element: Citizens have a say in governance, typically through voting.

Republican element: The government operates as a representative system, where officials are elected to make decisions on behalf of the people.

This system prevents direct rule by the populace while ensuring that leaders are chosen through democratic processes.
