It's not ok. But we are way beyond that.

The US is circling the drain. It's unlikely to just up and collapse, but the second election of Trump is a marked slide closer to the end of a timeline of long, slow decline that, despite outward appearances to the contrary, started in the early '70s.

You hear people wonder why there aren't protests in the streets. It's because people have realized that they actually possess very little political power and protests won't change that. And around half of the population is so checked out they don't even realize when laws are being passed that will affect them.

Federal representation is wildly undemocratic. I think blue states are going to start challenging the centralized federal order in various ways over the next decade or two in order to take back more of their own power. The right started this in red states long ago. Which really isn't good news, but you better like the state you live in. This could lead to civil war when a future president turns the military on disobedient states.

I'm encouraging my kids to go abroad for college or grad school and to get a second passport. [/quote]
