I’m just beyond disgusted with my fellow Americans today.
I want healthcare for all American citizens but it will never happen as long as we have endless immigration because there is no way to account for costs. It isn't right that people come across the border, sometimes already pregnant, and have multiple children in order to avail themselves of free services that US citizens cannot access for themselves despite paying taxes for a lifetime. I would love to offer a good life to everyone who wants to come here but it's not realistic. The current system is unsustainable. The people complaining here are mostly wealthy posters who are immune to the problems the rest of us deal with due to illegal immigration. They have access to great healthcare, private schools and gated communities. My kids attend schools that are literally falling apart while a ridiculous amount of money is spent on programs to support illegal immigrants in our pyramid. Every year my property tax bill goes up. We pay out of pocket for our healthcare and the costs are insane. Also, it isn't just poorer immigrants who abuse birth right citizenship. There are wealthy mothers from all over the world who come to the US specifically to give birth. Not wanting to subsidize all of this abuse with our tax dollars does not make us terrible people. No other civilized country in the world has the immigration issues that we do.
Stop voting for republicans. This country can more than afford to pay for healthcare for kids.
If the billionaires pay their fair share sure, but they don't. America is funded off the backs of the middle class and you're killing us.
Uhm, you should consider voting for Dems if that’s what you believe. Welcome!
DP here. I DO vote for Dems. I believe in affordable healthcare for ALL US citizens (not just the poor) and believe in investing in quality public education and affordable childcare for all US citizens. AND, I believe in secure borders and deportation of those without legal status to be here. I don't believe any warm body should be allowed to claim asylum and roam the country free indefinitely while we decide what we are going to do with that. And I support a constitutional amendment to end birthright citizenship.
Sure hon. Letting this mother stay with her potentially terminally ill child while they receive medical care is the right thing to do. If you disagree, it’s not about politics at this point, it’s about your values. Strongly suggest you look at those first and then vote for the party that is in alignment with those values. I don’t think you’re being honest about who you voted for.
I don't care what you believe. Not every Dem supports illegal immigration. We wouldn't have to "let" her stay with her child if she didn't come here to begin with. That's on her.
She came here looking for asylum (legal!) and was taken into custody "last week after attending routine check-ins with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Louisiana>" So doing everything correctly, not roaming the country freely. You don't like asylum laws, fine. Change them. But the law is as it is now. You don't just deport people willy nilly who are following the correct steps! And if you do so, you find a way to make sure the stage 4 cancer citizen and minor gets his meds because we are the United Freaking States of Merica, not some backwater authoritarian cruel regime
If she was deported, an immigration judge had to issue an order of deportation. Migrants with active asylum claims cannot be deported. You have no idea about the facts of her case, but since she was deported, her phony “asylum” claim was obviously denied. These people coming here from Central America are economic migrants. They are poor, not persecuted. We can’t take in all of Central and South America’s poor. We don’t have the resources. Biden’s disastrous open border policies put tremendous strain on local communities, schools, the health care system, etc. People are sick of our tax dollars being spent on illegal immigrants.
Why was she at her routine ICE check in? Is it because asylum claims take forever to process? And don't even with ICE is waiting for judges. You know that's a lie.
Maybe asylum claims wouldn't take so long to process if they stopped letting everyone and their brother make an "asylum" claim to begin with. Most of them are in reality economic migration and don't have credible asylum claims. They only say that because they are told to say that so they are not turned away at the border. It doesn't make it true.
