HS teacher. I tried to stop a fight between two boys in my HS class my second year of teaching and one of them threw me against a desk. I fully realized after the fact that if I had stumbled and fallen backwards, I could have broken my neck against the edge of that desk. When I later told my colleagues about the incident, they said "why did you get involved?"

Another time I tried to break up a hallway fight between two girls. Not only did I not succeed, I turned around when the SRO broke them up only to realize that a huge crowd of kids had gathered around us, many were smiling and laughing and all of them were holding their  phones up above the throng to film the scene.

Raise your kids to behave decently before you expect a teacher to intervene in anything.[/quote]
Curious…are teachers discouraged from filling charges against students? I feel like that should be a higher priority.[/quote]
