About today's hearing: "Judge Paula Xinis is ordering the government to provide daily updates on the progress in the case of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, the Maryland father wrongly deported to a prison in El Salvador. “We are going to make a record of everything the government is doing and not doing,” she said, breezing past objections from Drew Ensign, the lawyer for the government. “The court’s deadlines are impractical,” Ensign said. He added that the government would comply with the Supreme Court’s order. The hearing is over, after less than half an hour."
i thought the Supreme Court was pretty clear in its ruling what it expected from BOTH the lower courts and the Government: "The District Court should clarify its directive, with due regard for the deference owed to the Executive Branch in the conduct of foreign affairs. For its part, the Government should be prepared to share what it can concerning the steps it has taken and the prospect of further steps." If Judge Xinis is planning to build a contempt case for failing to report daily, it's going to be tough.
Kidnapping someone withoout due process and shipping them off to a gulag is not national security nor the conduct of foreign affairs.
