The story makes zero sense as it is being told: So she goes swimming with someone, who presumably got back on the beach safe and alerted no one at any point?
A guy meets a girl out at a bar on spring break…. He thinks they’re going to go hook up. They end up swimming in the ocean and she doesn’t pop up after a wave came – I would hope most would go alert authorities, but I can also imagine a young man freaking out, not knowing what to do.
This exactly. When I heard the story the first time, the comments section was full of people being like "OMG those aren't real friends! Girls don't leave girls behind!" Uh, what? Girls leave girls behind when the one they are leaving behind is staying behind to hook up with a guy. That's exactly what this was. I can think of at least 4 times this happened to me when I was in college. It's crazy to look back now as an almost 40-something and realize how lucky I and most of my friends really were. We all did this exact same dumb thing at least once a year. Spring break '05 Cancun is where I learned that beach sex is not hot or romantic like in all the movies and TV shows. I bet there are at least a dozen or more women on DCUM who had Spring Break boyfriends.
