Anyone considering/Trying out SYC 2013GA for next year. I heard 2012 GA is doing really good.
The 2013G team is solid too (definitely top 5 in DMV, maybe top 3), but will its best players stay for the GA program or move to an ECNL club? Any views on the GA coaching staff? Are they teaching something other than typical DMV kickball?
The SYC 2013 team ranks among the top three in the DMV region. They recently traveled to Florida for the GA East Regionals and had a fantastic experience. With the recent changes in the GA and the positive momentum building, the 2013s SYC team are expected to stay together, similar to the successful 2012 SYC team. Furthermore, all SYC teams from U9 to U12 are currently among the best in the DMV.
What types of players fit into their system? Any particular gaps that need to be filled? Where do the GA teams train?
Girls that are bigger and faster than everyone else at age 7 and have already started developing themselves. Much like most younger teams that are good (winning).
So they play kickball too? Is McLean the only 2013G team in the area that isn’t all about big and fast?
They don’t play kickball but it is a very big team. Strong, fast, big players.
They played Loudoun twice this season, lost 0-2 in the summer and tied 1-1 in the fall. What were those games like? Does either team consistently try to build out from the back or do they end up defaulting to keeper punting when facing another team with strong, fast, big players?
loudoun builds out of back and has a really solid back line and defensive midfield. Loudoun gets scored on generally on set pieces because the girls still get confused on positions.
