DC and PG county have similar accents. I heard the DC dialect recently and can report it is alive and well. Northern VA is nowhere near those.
Ah, it was just a crude racial comment. It all makes sense now.
No, it was an additional response stemming from a question of how to identify DC residents inside of a store. Their dialect is distinctly DC and yes, many people who live in PG county are from DC originally so they have the same/similar accents and dialect. There was no value assessment of the dialect, either positive or negative. Now whatever crude racial assignment you put on that statement is yours to own.
Bullcrap. You just don't like being called out on it and are being defensive. Ted Lerner was the last public figure that had our regional accent. It pretty much died out due to the massive growth of the federal government from WW2-Vietnam. The Silent Generation people I knew that were native to Arlington, MoCo and DC all had the same accent. The Gen X natives I grew up with from Arlington, Fairfax, DC, Moco and PG all have the same, now different, accent.
I'm not being defensive at all. Point out where there was any negative attributes about the accent or dialect. You seem to be the defensive one. I can guarantee you that someone in Arlington doesn't sound anything like someone from DC.
No you can't. Because it is not true and you're pulling all of this out of your ass.
I see you haven't pointed out where there was anything negative said about the DC dialect. And yes, I can guarantee you that they sound nothing alike. Sorry that seems to hurt you.
The Lerners and Chuck Robb have the same accent. That's DC, Chevy Chase and Mt. Vernon.
???? You seem highly intent on proving a point that is just not true and no one agrees with. It is just bizarre. Is this all so that you can prove that someone talking about DC dialects is racist? I guess that is what you are doing.
Bullcrap DC, NoVA and MoCo/PG are a single cultural region. But yes, that PP is using "DC" as code for black.
