Wait. MCPS doesn't have floater principals?.the 15th largest school system in the nation? They're just trusting no one is going to quit, get arrested or die without a long heads up?
Retired principals are their floater principals apparently.
Floater principals??? Why would they. Do organizations have floater directors or executives? No. If someone resigns they deal with it then. There are APs in the school and folks in CO who would step in if needed.
Mid-year vacancies at the school and central level have always been filled with retired admins.
Or sometimes a current principal intern or AP gets quickly promoted to acting principal.
I think QO has some issues at the administrative level overall so it makes sense to bring in a place holder - retired principal- to ride out the rest of the year while MCPS interviews to find a new Principal for next year. This year is basically in terms of solid leadership a loss so the loss will continue for the remainder of the year. My guess is MCPS had trouble finding anyone good and also willing to lead this lame duck for the half year remaining and also that MCPS didn’t want to pull a good AVP or Principal from a functioning school and risk having that school devolve. I am curious to see how many of the QO AVPs remain in place after the next year of having a new Principal. There is no reason QO can’t be a quite good school comparable at least with NW. But hey while Math proficiency is at 38.9 percent at least they won their football division game last night.
