I'd rather brand myself with a place I'm proud to be associated with than something like Gucci. I don't mind people from the best companies wearing gear either. I have a lot of clothing I didn't pay for from top schools and companies. It is pretty much all I work out in now. I'm not going to impress anyone in the gym with it and it would be dumb to leave it in the closet.
This comment is funny to me because while I am not bothered by someone wearing corporate branded gear, I am confounded as to why it exists except to be worn at like corporate retreats. I think advertising that you work at Accenture or Latham or McKinsey or whatever is strange -- most people I know work at places like this and as a result no one is impressed by it. And I would think a lot of people who don't work at companies like this would also not be impressed but instead annoyed. I just think there are almost no upsides to wearing this stuff and big potential downsides of coming off as braggy or even just overly identifying with your very corporate job. It's not like if you own a brewery and wear the brewery's gear. That person makes/sells a product that makes people happy and is fun and interesting. Who wants to talk about consulting or corporate law practice at a neighborhood barbecue? No one, that's who. At least when people where college gear it might spark a conversation about something interesting or pleasant.
