People who have not been exposed to cyclist culture don’t get it. It’s very consuming and cyclists spend a lot of time not just cycling but researching equipment and planning rides. They tend to be a-holes both off and especially on the road. I’m not sure why.
Very true. My spouse will often leave at 5:30 AM to cycle to work, work, cycle after work and then come home about 7-8 PM. He will do this 5 days a week, maybe coming straight back on Friday. Then he takes one weekend day. Even though the kids are grown, the amount of time he takes is incredible and all the other household stuff falls on me, bills, taxes, cleaning, repairs, etc. This area is expensive so I try to do as much as I can myself, but I was injured last year trying to do one of those chores and now I hurt. I made it very clear when the dog passes (he has cancer so maybe 2 months they said?), I will be taking time to grow my business, visit family, etc. I would not call him a deliberate a**hole; I would call him so obsessed about cycling that he doesn't care about much else.
