Yes, it is a top heavy class. There are good kids on non top 10 teams, but the gap between tops teams and rest of country is a little more severe than some other classes. The top 3 teams at that age group (YJLI, M&D black, and MDU) are pretty far ahead of everyone else at this point as teams, but lots of talent around country.
The gap gets closer as the girls get older. I can see some up and coming teams challenging the 3 mentioned. But you are correct that those 3 teams will stay near the top.
MDU might be the top club at actually developing lacrosse talent (or they just get naturals due to the Annapolis location) but either way if this 2030 team can avoid losing kids to Hero's M&D and Skywalkers like many of the previous grad classes they will remain in top-5 for years. 2027 and 2028s both seem to have kept most of the talent there and are both top-15 teams.
Not even close! MDU doesn’t recruit, most of the coaches are terrible, and they consistently lose their top talent once parents figure it out. They are lucky to be somewhat isolated from the bmore teams, they are good in years where the Annapolis area has talent and they don’t split it with Integrity. The 2027s are what they are and have held steady, but the 2028 team is losing ground every year. They went from winning NGLL Mid Atlantic, to being top 3, to being top 10, to now hanging on to top 15. They will not be a top 10 team again, zero recruiting.
LOL, this is 2029 dad isn't it? Being ranked in the top-15 is pretty good thing, so the 2028s went from 3 to 5 to 9 to 12, so what, plenty of talent there. You can't spin that as a negative 2029 dad.
Being top 15 is great, but my point is the trajectory is headed in wrong direction, which was a response to someone saying that MDU develops talents, because they dont. If they did, that 2028 team would’ve stayed in top 5. They will soon fade out of top 15 too, just wait.
Maybe you don't understand what "development" means but it means taking young players and making them better. Keeping that talent through recruiting years is much different. If you followed the grad years as close as you say you do, you'd know there are top-10 ranked players on M&D who were on MDU in 3rd-4th-5th grad. Skywalkers is perfect example. They add over 50% of their HS teams from other clubs. Same will happen with 2029, 2030s.
Lol, i know what development means. Outside of one elite talent, that 2028 MDU East team has remained unchanged, yet they are losing ground to competition; so what does that say about the team’s development? I work with M&D all the time, not many 2027 or 2028 MDU players have come over, which are the teams we were discussing. 2029 East team lost two great players to M&D, but that’s it. Skywalkers is a joke now, Coppermine ate their lunch. Why would anyone leave the 28, 29, or 30 coppermine, M&D, or Heros teams to go to SW now? Recruiting??? Nah, those teams will keep their players and SW will just be a marginal A team from here on out.
