1b- snow angel This is our fist year . The audition did not include a snow angel. They did fish tail, mouse and party girl. My dancer was hoping for the party scene
The news was welcomed with such enthusiasm this morning . I am relieved. We are new to the school and she was one of the mirlitons last year and a Chinese girl the year before in a different school, much smaller production. This is a reality check for her on how her skills compare with the dancers of a much bigger school so we are using it as a coaching point. The most important thing is that she is having fun and enjoying this experience. Now the tough part , the big commitment with the rehearsal schedule. One of the rehearsals clashes with her birthday. Would the school be understanding if we skipped only that one? I am frantically looking for different options for her party but it is not looking good.
Just celebrate her bday on another day
+1. This is the difference between Nutcracker at a small school and one with a professional company. It's not just about your child missing for a big day, it messes up all the other kids in her cast who are performing in a space relative to her. If she's missing, then it throws every other child off. Besides, did you not read the contract you signed before her audition?
i did read the contract, of course. I was not expecting the rehearsal to be 4-6pm. This was the time she was going to invite her friends over for a movie night to celebrate her birthday. So now i am looking for venues around lunch time, like bowling. And since every weekend will be busy with rehearsals and performances, there are not many options for alternative dates.
Can you do a Friday night?
There are many kids' birthdays that falls within the months of rehearsals and performances for this professional production. You either commit to the show or not. If the only way to celebrate your daughter's birthday conflicts with rehearsal, then you might not have the flexibility to make it through the full run and commitment for this show.
