This is what baffles me about SYC. They said they have good players and develop them, supports their players but not able to place any players for 2011 and little to no one in the other age groups with DCU.  They have good players and the conclusion that makes any sense is SYC is not advocating for their players and potentially blocking them from being picked up. [/quote]

No, they don't really have good players. They have early puberty strong athletes with mediocre soccer skills. In this regard, DCU knows what they are doing by not falling for the trap of size. [/quote]

OK, I guess.  I also partially agree.

But SYC did have 2010s move to DCU, Philly Union, and Red Bulls this year.  Two had only been with them for a year, but still.   And I'm not sure doesn't DCU doesn't fall for the trap of size.  They'll take some exceptional smaller kids, but I'd say size is definitely a factor, and maybe weighted too heavily.

If one does not get an offer from DCU, or does not want to go to DCU, can they reach out directly to those clubs? It seems u need a coach’s recommendation or at least your coach know about ur attempts to get on to another academy. [/quote]

I think all players playing in MLS Next league aspires to be picked up by an academy and on the pathway to pro.  Not sure why the coach need to be told that a player is interested in moving to an academy.   [/quote]
