I’m sadder every day by the uneducated, racist, misogynistic, homophobic citizens of this country. I just can’t believe how many of them are out there. It’s depressing.
What makes you think they are all uneducated? I know a woman who is a Ph. D. In Economics from Harvard who has voted for him three times and will again in 2024! She is not an anomaly.
Thinking through my Trump voting friends, they are all college educated and almost all have law degrees or MBAs.
Seriously? How do they justify voting for someone who is so obviously an inarticulate, stupid misogynist? I really don’t understand it. I do not know a single Trump supporter and can’t fathom how anyone can support him.
My daughter will not vote for Harris because of the economy - she cannot believe how prices have skyrocketed since Biden got into office and why the heck she and her husband cannot afford a home in the DC area despite making over 200K and having over 100K down payment. The interest rate, home taxes and subsequent escrow take the monthly payments out of their reach. They are willing to take a hefty commute, but during Covid, all the DCers and close in had to have their 'country' homes out in Leesburg and west, driving the prices sky high. A year ago, the idea of moving seems unfathomable to both of them. Now they both want out. In addition, they have started digging into their own news sources and are surprised at how exaggerated the claims about Trump were. The last straw was the offering of all the goodies to the "newcomers" the Biden/Harris administration brought in, leaving poor Americans drowning. The farther she gets from her college years, the more practical she's becoming.
If she's planning on having children, I hope she doesn't choose to move to a state that would put her life at risk should she experience a pregnancy complication.
I thought that all states had exceptions for the life of the mother? Also, you used the words "choose to move to a state" - so it would be her choice?
complications. One would think that, right? And yet, women have been left to go septic or hemorrhage so much blood at home that they pass out on bathroom floors in TX and FL. Told to wait in a hospotal parking lot until their fevers are high enough to warrant treatment. Forced to carry doomed pregnancies at the risk to their lives or future fertility. Women in ID have had to be transported out of state due to Idaho's refusal to follow EMTALA (see Supreme Court case in which ID AG actually argued about how close to death a woman must be). There are numerous lawsuits in the works from these cases. It is a wonder no one has died from delayed care yet. Or they have, and those cases haven't been made public. Infant mortality has increased in TX since 2022, likely due to the fact that women are being forced to carry doomed pregnancies to term and give birth to babies who are only destined to suffer and die in the short hours or days that they may survive. If you've never known someone who has been affected by life-threatening pregnancy complications or terminal fetal diagnoses, consider yourself fortunate. I am a former Republican, disgusted by both Trump's behavior and contempt for his fellow countrymen, and also by the tragic impact his 3 SC picks have had on the rights of women in this country, and may continue to have, if some on of the Christian Nationalists who have taken over the GOP get what they want with regard to birth control and IVF. I'd love to be able to vote for a moderate, middle-of-the-road GOP candidate who has the ability to work across the aisle. But they're all considered RINOs now and have been run out of the party.
