Combined with the fact that she made her own cut that then failed in testing and now the director won’t speak to her. I usually love her and I still love a lot of things about her but a. Never noticed her hair being so amazing and b. Don’t springboard off a movie to launch a hair line. She could easily have done that whenever. Just feel so cringe
That’s not completely true ….what I will say is…. It’s not just Blake and Justin Baldoni (director/main character) not talking to each other – it’s pretty much the entire cast/Colleen Hoover Also not doing any press with Justin – and no longer following him on social media. Justin only took pictures with his wife on the red carpet at the Premier and had no interactions with the rest of the cast. Sounds like Blake and Ryan had to infuse a ton of money into the movie to get it back on track.
Yeah, I’ve been reading about this. But the way everyone has turned on the director feels very - middle school ostracism. It’s cruel and unkind and gives me flashbacks to my youth! That being said, maybe he did something egregious.
Agree. What irks me is that Colleen really bought for him to direct and play the character. And so for her to turn against them like that just seems like she got caught up in the whole Blake lively and her hair phenomenon lol. I get it - she’s a star, but it does seem petty of Colleen and like she just acts on a whim. Justin is not a newcomer… He is pretty established in Hollywood so it would be surprising if he did something completely egregious and we aren’t hearing about it. He seems like a really nice guy, devoted to his wife, has a ton of fans, just seems weird that they turned against him. I’m excited to see the movie but also happy that the press etc. is going to die down now that opening opening weekend is done.
Even if they had a difference of opinion creatively or he was a bad director - to unfollow on social media and refuse to appear with him…very immature. And apparently the screenwriter was surprised to learn that Ryan Reynolds rewrote some scenes. That’s disrespectful of someone who I imagine has had great professional success in the industry. I don’t like the egos.
This is completely normal for Hollywood. Happens all the time.
Someone's husband swoops in and rewrites scenes?
You can't look at Ryan Reynolds as "someone's husband" when it comes to Hollywood. He has becomes a major force (I mean, I like him, but his rise in power is pretty astounding) and that gives him the ability to do what he wants with a script he is involved in, given the money he/they put into it. Plenty of Hollywood writers have gotten far worse treatment after writing a script.
He is absolutely someone's husband, an action dude with great business sense not known for his sensitivity. I'd be pretty pissed if writing a movie about DV and the Deadpool guy comes in and rewrites. How can her coworkers respect her (I know they do on the surface, because Ryan Reynolds money)? She can't do one thing independently? It's sad and unnecessary if her point is to be taken seriously as an actress.
Exactly. It screams codependency which can also be abuse in certain situations. How would you feel if your spouse came in and tried to do work on a project that had no role in?!
His money invested in the film gives him a role. And if you think BL wasn't thrilled to have him help her make the movie succeed you are just a man-hater. This was BL's first movie post kids. She has had no successes since Gossip Girls. It was almost as if she said to RR, It's my turn to work again, and I need a success, and RR did everything in his power to make it happen for her.
I am most certainly not a man-hater. He wasn't the director or screen writer. How do we know RR invested $ into the movie? I have not read that anywhere, but I am also not actively reading everything either, this just seems to be all over the place rn. BL is a producer and sometimes actors are given a producer credit even when not investing $ into the film. Not saying that happened here as BL allegedly was very involved, but if she was the producer why was RR also involved? If my husband of 12+ years started taking over, it would not be a positive. Check out Ask a Manager and you'll read stories of spouses occasionally doing similar things and people are horrified! Yes, partners talk and brainstorm, but in no way would he come in and rewrite something. I am an investor and not up in the businesses every day! I don't know what happened, but it is unfortunate that some of these adults can't act like grown ups and old it together for a few weeks and focus on DV. Also, what is up with all this unfollowing? Doesn't anyone know how to use mute? Just mute the person and don't see their stories and posts. Did they really have no clue that unfollowing him would cause so much drama? Just mute the person and if you must unfollow do it down the road.
I haven't been to the website, but there is a difference is in what has been done. BL never should have said RR worked on the scene. It's like a woman who does an interview and says my DH helped me work on a spreadsheet for work. (That's probably not a perfect example.) As you said, partners frequently brainstorm ideas. But you don't then go tell the world that your partner helped you, as if your work partner wasn't good enough. Frankly, I just think BL is challenged in many ways.
