It’s common for men with dementia to flash back to childhood somehow and believe their wives or their daughters or nurses are their mothers . When they find out that caretaker isn’t their mother, they can get confused, throw a hissy fit ,  and can even lash out or become violent . The brain is such a horrible thing to watch deteriorate. She’s using the words big boy and proud of you to play into what he thinks. The expression on his face when she said he answered all the questions reminded me of a little kid. I think he thinks Jill is mama [/quote]
