Released at 4:30 AM eastern time ...
People seriously got up at 4:30 for this? Relax.
I got up at 2am on the West Coast. For us it is very strongly linked to applications to the UK where the AP result is taken as the equivalent of an A level. Without them, no offers.
Curious, is a 3 viewed as bad or good?
Cambridge only accepts 5s, and requires 5 of them. But they make tentative offers confirmed by senior year exams.
Cambridge also states that the exams should be taken within two years earlier to the application. What about the kids who take and score 5s as freshmen. Do those scores not count anymore?
The 5 courses need to be closely aligned to your major, and junior APs like Physics 1 and Precalc are discouraged. For courses with post-AP courses, like calculus and Computer Science, email admissions to ask. They might suggest a retake, or suggest an alternate exam for your higher level courses. Most likely, it won't matter because you'll have 5 more APs in junior/senior year anyway, or you should go ahead and start college a year early. For a few courses like AP Government and AP US History, take more APs in those subjects in later years. (2x English, 2x History, World Language, for example.)
