A combination of deep frying and bleach?[/quote] It’s from frying the French fries in vegetable oil instead of beef tallow. The McDonald’s fries of my youth were so good. In 1990 they changed to vegetable oil and now the fries no longer are crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. Vegetable oil at high temperatures is unstable and breaks down. It leaves a sticky film all over everything. Bring back the beef tallow fries!!! [/quote]
