Once schools showed society that (1) the school systems didn't see any value in physical attendance or schools being open and (2) parents saw how little information was being taught in one day or class----> family's attitudes about attendance really changed. Why not go to Disney when its cheaper or extend that overseas trip by a few days?
This is the answer. Attendance nationwide took a dive after COVID.
Are we still blaming COVID for anything we disagree with or don't like? Neat.
I think that covid consequences for many kids are going to be around for a long time. My kids were at all 3 levels when this started. I had an elementary student, middle schooler and 2020 kid The 2020s seemed to be the most resilient, in my opinion. The ones who were in elementary school were front loaded with a lot of behavior problems for a year or two that mostly seem to be finally improving, but many are still struggling academically. They have developmental holes academically that are going to be difficult to fill. The ones who are class of 2021 through 2026 who went through middle school and most of high school during covid seem the worst off emotionally and socially, and also academically. Many are fine. But the ones who aren't, who lost themselves to tiktok during covid are not good.
