Something else people don't know about NWSL is that they pay for your housing car and food with per diems while playing. What this means is even if you're lowest paid you're still getting by comfortably.
https://theathletic.com/406970/2018/06/26/nwsl-confidential-living-with-host-families-we-are-strangers-at-home/ Yeah, it sounds amazing.
You seem like the type that would send back soup because it's too hot. Whatever.. Look at all the Minor league baseball players or hockey players just begging for an opportunity to play on a MLB or NHL team. NWSL league minimum isn't great but it's also not meant to be a career. If players are good ideally they'll be given a chance to move up on the roster. If not they get dropped and replaced with someone else. It's how all professional sports teams work.
What league do you think is the equivalent of MLB or NHL in your analogy? The MLB's average salary is $4.5 million and the minimum is 720k. NHL is $3.2 million and 750k
https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-minor-league-players-reach-deal-on-first-milb-cba/#:~:text=Under%20the%20terms%20of%20the,jump%20from%20%2411%2C000%20to%20%2427%2C300. Under the terms of the agreement, minor league player salaries will be increased dramatically. Players in the complex leagues will go from making a minimum of $4,800 per year to $19,800 a year. The minimum salary for players in Low-A will go from $11,000 to $26,200. High-A salaries will jump from $11,000 to $27,300. Double-A salaries will go from $13,800 to $30,250. Triple-A salaries will increase from $17,500 to $35,800. https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/hr0ft/how_much_do_hockey_players_get_paid_outside/ Hockey is the same outside of NHL
You are citing professional leagues that have been in existence for over 100 years and have well established minor league systems. NWSL has 14 teams and no minor league system and is younger as league than the players who play for NWSL. What you want CAN happen but it is a LOOOOOOONG way off.
> 5
Less than 5 for the changeover. However, in the next year we're going to know where all this leads. Once the direction becomes clear everyone will race to be involved with the winning team.
