Why do people hate the idea of gifts so much? I love giving and getting gifts as a way to show my love and attention.
People have different ways of expressing love. For some, the love language is a gift. For others, it’s something else. It sounds like gifts are your love language. Just know that others may have different love languages.
No, I get that. There are LOTS of ways to express love. Gifts are not my love language, actually, but what I'm talking about is the level of hate on this type thread engenders - why is it that if some folks don't celebrate Valentines Day or don't expect a Christmas gift they feel superior to all of the gift-enjoying humans? And seem to want to make it knows that only mature adults like gifts. And that if you enjoy gifts you are a selfish, gold-digging, money grubbing whiner. It's simply not true. Gifts are nice. Not too many of them. Not too expensive. But a nicely thought out gift (like ... pick me up a mini peppermint pattie, not a snickers bar and I'll know you've been paying attention!!) is lovely.
