Holy wow, people. A whole city anywhere is not dangerous. And DC has fallen below Baltimore for city safety. I think there's just an inherent bias toward Baltimore in the DMV. Signed, Long-time DC resident who works in Baltimore and manages to get coffee with students and colleagues and somehow has managed to never get mugged or worse
I lived in Charles Village near JMU for two years and never got mugged. I liked in Takoma Park for 1.5 years and got mugged.
Another poster here I lived at 39 and Charles for 2 years - went everywhere in the city and had no issues
Yes, I also lived on 39th Street (between University and Charles) and was never mugged, robbed, or even had my car broken into. I’ve been all over the city for work (attorney for foster care system) and was never harmed. Been in Bmore for nearly 30 years now and based on some people’s comments here, I should have been robbed or dead at least 10 times over by now. Yes, Baltimore has problems, but just like any city, you should know where you are going and be smart. My kids started going to various parts of the city on their own as teens and they are just fine. One of them goes to high school not far from JHU and has lived to tell about it - imagine that!
