I spent years picking up stuff at Filenes and TJ Maxx and Macys and H&M that had the look of higher quality stuff, and mixed nicely into my professional wardrobe. But they've all gone down so much in the last 15 years, that that's not the case anymore. You have to go one step higher - Zara, Banana Republic, JCrew. Basically, instead of spending $12.99 on a plain shirt, you have to spend $25. Still not great quality at those stores, but you can at least find things that aren't obviously super cheap. TJ Maxx stuff all looks obviously super cheap at this point. The fabrics and seaming are just in a different league. [/quote]
