As a new club FH parent, it would be great if you all named names so that I could figure out if DDs team has a problematic reputation . This discussion has been eye opening….
What team?
Metro
There are two teams in the DMV I would never recommend. This is one of them.
What’s the other team? Looking to move my U14 DD from a club not listed on this thread to another club and want to make sure we are looking at the right places
Multiple posters have already said it, Husel.
And Washington Wolves
I disagree. And so do multiple other people on this thread.
I don’t get this odd vendetta that people in this thread have with the Washington Wolves. It’s one of the oldest field hockey clubs in the DMV and it’s rich with history and truly great coaching. You can see these results in the amazing student-athletes that have gone to play DI, DII, DIII, or club field hockey. These college athletes even come back to help the club out with recruitment advice and coaching (there aren’t many clubs in MOCO that come even close to this experience). The coaches, especially Gloria, put so much heart and effort into coaching and the sport and you can see the growth and increased competitiveness in MOCO field hockey thanks to the Wolves (just look at Churchill field hockey’s roster). Gloria works so hard for the girls in her club team and she definitely doesn’t have time to “stare at players from other club teams.” She does cheer for other players and a lot of these girls who play for other clubs enjoy talking to Gloria because she has coached them in Futures/Nexus and she is nothing but supportive. As someone who has had amazing experiences with the Wolves, I have experienced a lot of negativity from other MOCO clubs teams when they play the Wolves, especially from this specific coach who was very vocal about hating the Wolves and making unprofessional comments about the playing style of the wolves athletes in a major tournament. Now that I find unprofessional especially because this said coach runs so many clinics in the area that I know many Wolves girls partake in.
