OP thinking of you as one of my kids dealt with this at 1 and again at 5. I truly hope that they’ve explained to you that what you’re seeing is totally normal and expected. It’s a 2 steps forward, 1 step back situation so you should feel very good bc everything is trending in the right direction. I know it’s terrifying but the best thing you can do is get sleep. You may have to take something to help you take a long nap. You don’t want to get so run down that you get sick bc you will need to be healthy when she comes home. Know that they will contact you at any hour to get back there if there’s a need. It’s such a bad combo of being sleep deprived and in a germy hospital - you will pick something up. I’m also going to say please be so strict w/ visitors, going to school, etc for the winter once she is home. We found that my son was incredibly susceptible to all respiratory things after this. He ended up in the picu a few times for bronchiolotis until his lungs got strong enough. I butted heads with my in-laws about visits, family events, holidays, etc. Just be strong and know that no matter how many things seem awful to her to miss, it will be worth it in the long run. My son is now 13 and has no lingering effects. His lung capacity is normal and he was weaned from all meds a few years ago. I know this is all jumping the gun, but I wasn’t prepared for how hard I’d have to argue with people to keep my son away from germs.
