On the initial steps of waking up, as she was coming round her vital signs weren't quite right so they've resumed the mechanical support. They handled it very calmly and she wasn't looking to be struggling. I've been told it's not uncommon for this to happen, so I'm trying to not read too much into it. It sounds like the battle against the sepsis has been won which is fantastic, it's the risk of infection which is the only main worry now.

She has had an x-ray and has a bit of fluid in her lungs, so we have to hope that doesn't lead to pneumonia, but any problems caused from the infection don't look permanent.  I can't wait to talk to her and hope she's sound asleep understanding none of this.

DH has picked up some sniffles as he'd refused any sleep at all since we came in, he's gone home to look after my younger daughter, which is a relief for her. My parents are coming into state so I'll not be alone from the evening. Fingers crossed the next wake up goes smoother.
