There is going to be increasing public skepticism about the use of public funds for these sorts of positions in the coming years, and I would say it's a risky endeavor to pursue such a job, as you may be on the chopping block before you know it.

There was recently a report on "DEI bloat" in universities, and Virginia apparently was at the top of the list. GMU was ranked #1 for DEI bloat. https://www.heritage.org/education/commentary/gmus-president-gets-it-wrong-dei-has-overtaken-his-school
