I’m a liberal. Never voted Republican in my life. But I’ll be voting Republican from now on (at least when it comes to local and state elections). The Democrats have lost their minds.
You aren’t a liberal. You are a liar, though. Nice try.
Again it doesn’t matter if you think I’m a liar and if I don’t pass your liberal purity test. What matters is that I used to vote Democrat and I will no longer be voting Democrat.
Women's rights is a pretty basic "test".
I know it’s hard for you to understand but (a) women’s rights isn’t limited to abortion and (b) democrats did nothing for women’s rights re abortion because they refused to codify it when they could. But again it doesn’t matter if I fail the test and whether the test is an easy one. What matters is that the Democratic Party lost my vote. I’m part of a trend. Democrats will have to contend with this trend either by finding new voters to replace us, or by trying to understand where we are coming from.
If you aren't happy with what Democrats do for women, you're going to be very disappointed by the Republicans. As soon as we get the votes in Congress it will happen.
That’s what Democrats keep saying but it has actually never happened in the past. So it won’t likely happen in the future.
Certainly won’t happen with a R Congress.
Won’t happen with a democratic congress either so in this regard they are no different. The only difference is in the rhetoric.
The difference is Rs are actively trying to reduce women’s rights all over the country, including VA. A VA GOP state senator introduced a full ban earlier this year. Look around. This isn’t rhetorical.
Yes but if Democrats cared so much about abortion rights then why didn’t they codify these rights into law when they could? That’s the question you keep avoiding answering. Anyways I’m done with this discussion. Good luck to you with the election. Trust me it’ll be a difficult one since Democrats are losing support.
Because they didn't have the votes. Probably many of them assumed that RvW was "settled law" so they didn't think it was worth the political heft. We are in a different place now. But they will still need to get the 60 votes in the Senate which will be tough.
