He was much happier when he got to middle school when the principal had less influence on his day-to-day school experience, he had more freedom, and one bad or mediocre teacher didn't determine what his year was like. DD's experience was similar. I'm not saying either way is better, but there are obvious advantages for kids in bad or mediocre elementary schools. (By the way we are zoned for Gunston so it's not like they're at some special middle school)[/quote]
