We’re back together and will be getting engaged soon. I decided I wanted to wait a year and she wants right now so we comprised on getting engaged by the fall. She will be meeting my family soon and it gives us more time to live together. [/quote]

I have no idea why I’m so excited for this, but I am. It is refreshing to see maturity amidst so much selfishness that is often advocated for during this time. You two both seem mature and honorable in your intent — I admired that your girlfriend chose to step away without threats or disrupting and throwing it all away. She was clear in her concern. You responded. This is what relationships are about. I think you’ve shared very solid tools that will serve your future family well in the long run. Hope floats!
