Produce from Whole Foods or MOMs tasting like plastic. That’s a new one on me. I like the produce from both of those places. Some stuff is better than others between the two. I have no problems eating fresh food available in and around Arlington and Alexandria. Might not but cheap, but quality stuff is available.
I’m sorry, but one giant NO. Putting the quality from Whole Foods & MOM in the same basket feels like blasphemy. Try learning about MOM, how they started, how they work with local farmers, and how they treat their employees and their customers. The work with local farmers and ethically used sources + food treatment is evident if you try their produce. Their prices are not that bad (even lower than Whole Foods) and for the quality they provide I would pay more in a heartbeat. I have been their loyal customer for over 20 years, back when they have only one and then two stores. The problem is that, due to where I currently live and work, I cannot personally venture to their stores too often and they don’t offer delivery. As for Whole Foods, for my palate (probably because I grew up used to eating produce that was never frozen and straight to market from the fields), Whole Foods is plain horrible half of time. And, it is a gamble. I buy something, bring it home and then get shocked with the taste (or better said, lack of any taste). Remember that the question was for people who lived in Europe. And this is just my experience. I’ve had some people from Europe who feel the same about bread products in the US. It depends a lot on one’s dietary preferences, for me it is all about fruits and vegetables. What I find confusing and maybe is a part of the answer to the original question, do you really not see/taste the difference in flavor of produce between MOM and Whole Foods?
