B. What makes a state “red” or “blue”.  Yes VA has a GOP governor but that’s only because it has a 1 term limit.  It has voted Dem in every national election since 2008.  Georgia has 2 democratic senators.  You can’t go by control of the state houses because so many of those are gerrymandered heavily.  
C. Conservativism and progressivism don’t really have fixed meanings. Take free trade.  Used to be considered a conservative stance.   But recently it’s Dems that support trade agreements and eschew protectionism.  Policies are viewed as conservative or progressive based on which party espouses them.  Right now, until the GOP proves otherwise, it is the party of little more xenophobia and racism and “owning the libs”
D. Where is causation?  Florida universities, if they continue to thrive at all, may very well do so DESPITE DeSantis. Not because of him.
