Is anyone thinking, like I am, if they can’t get it together in the selection process, maybe a sign that it will be disorganized in the program? It’s a 4 week program. Also, what percentage of the kids make the final round? Do most that go to this state review make it in?
Yes, the lack of organization is also making me apprehensive about how the summer program will be executed. They certainly aren't off to a great start. As far as numbers go, you can read this document from the VDOE site that outlines the number of nomination quotas available to each county in the state. If I'm interpreting it correctly, it appears that the VPA program takes up to 1,530 nominations for 250 spots. So that would be 16% chance of getting in, if every county / private school group utilized their entire nomination quota. Other programs are also discussed in this document.
