Timber Lane ES should continue to attend McLean. Falls Church HS could instead absorb a good chunk of Woodson HS north of 236 and east of Pickett. Woodson would then have some capacity to fix the issues with funky Fairfax HS boundaries and overcrowding at Oakton HS. See, I can play armchair gerrymanderer too.
If you want to move Mantua ES to Falls Church HS, be my guest, but write the check to expand McLean HS now. Currently, the school with the closest enrollment to McLean HS is Woodson HS (2431 kids vs. 2453), and the difference between the amount of permanent seats and space at Woodson (2331 seats and 388,533 SF) and McLean (1993 seats and 285,612 SF) is rather staggering. So my "armchair gerrymandering" is based on real overcrowding that continues to go unaddressed, and what seems most likely to happen when Falls Church's renovation is completed, while yours seems to be based on spite. Neither Fairfax HS nor Oakton HS is projected to be above-capacity in the coming years; FCPS has each at 97% (without modulars) by SY 2027-28.
