There was a time right after Basketball Diaries where Leo was openly questioning his sexuality. He had an article in Interview magazine in 1994 saying as much but you will not find that article anywhere anymore. His team shut that down in its tracks because titanic and Romeo and Juliet were in the horizon and they didn’t want him coming out. He and Lukas Haas have been together. He also enjoys women I guess? But the model thing is contractual.
But there must be a printed issue of that Interview magazine. I really want to see that interview now and how significant it is really. Pretty sure he is just another Hollywood alpha male enjoying having beautiful young women throwing themselves at him. For decades.
Leo had a role in a film where he played a young gay post involved in a live triangle The interview was probably spun to play up that aspect. Or maybe he was figuring out his sexuality at the time not uncommon for a 20 something
https://www.interviewmagazine.com/film/leonardo-dicaprio-ingrid-sischy-1994-cover-story He was laying in a bed with Paula Shore talking about sex.
Nothing in that article says he was questioning his sexuality or implied that he might be gay. It was Pauly Shore who had a detailed conversation with him about sex and women when he was 14 or 15. All this article does is point out that he's been sexualized for a very long time starting when he was underage. Which no doubt has screwed up his ideas on relationships. And as some posters mentioned a few pages back may actually be a coping method for genuine trauma.
