My kid is still little, but what is the downside to dogs?  It seems like they’d be less likely to be influenced by societal factors/judgment calls than an SRO.  And if they find drugs, they find drugs.  I realize the “they were planted” argument will come up no matter what.

Rookie question here... Can a drug dog sniff out fake pills? Like can they sniff out a pin prick of fentanyl with filler? [/quote]

I’m the PP and had this question, too.  Apparently they can sniff out fentanyl – but because it is so potent, it can be dangerous for the drug-sniffing dogs.

That hit me like a ton of bricks.

I only did a quick google, so I don’t (personally) know how significant the fentanyl presence would have to be for it to trigger the dog.

I suspect there is no perfect solution and it will take a lot of time, money, and effort and APS will hope it doesn’t happen again.[/quote]
